My Awesome Weekend

Last weekend was so much fun! It started on Friday after school. My friend Jake came over and we played video games for a few hours. We took a break and had some snacks that my mom made - she always makes the best treats. After that, we went outside to play some basketball in my driveway.

The weather was perfect - sunny and warm but not too hot. We played horse and then had a couple one-on-one games. Jake is really good at basketball but I was beating him that day. Maybe it was because I was motivated by the double scoop ice cream cone I knew my dad would get me from the ice cream truck if I won!

Sure enough, I ended up winning both games. When the ice cream truck came around the neighborhood, my dad took us to get ice cream. I got a huge chocolate and vanilla twist cone - my favorite! Jake got a banana milkshake. We sat on the front porch enjoying our ice cream while my dad did some work in the yard. After ice cream, we went back inside to play more video games. My mom called us for dinner around 6pm. We had her famous spaghetti and meatballs. My parents both work a lot

during the week, so it's always nice when we can all eat dinner together on Friday nights.

After dinner, my parents rented a movie for us to watch. It was an adventure movie about explorers in the jungle. It had a lot of cool special effects and crazy stunts. Partway through, we made popcorn to snack on. I probably ate way too much though! By the time the movie ended around 9pm, I was feeling stuffed. Jake's mom came to pick him up after the movie. We said goodbye, and I went upstairs to get ready for bed. I took a shower, put on my pajamas, and read for a little while before falling asleep.

The next morning, I woke up around 9am. I went downstairs and my mom had made her delicious chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast! After eating, I spent most of the morning playing outside since it was another nice day. I rode my bike around the neighborhood, played some basketball by myself, and did cartwheels and flips in the grass in our backyard.

Around lunchtime, my dad grilled hamburgers and we had a picnic in the backyard. That afternoon, I met up with a bunch of friends at the community pool. We swam for hours, played pool games like marco polo, and did silly jumping contests off the diving board. I even got a bit of a sunburn!

Once the pool closed at 6pm, I walked home with my friends Sarah and Emily. We were all starving after being in the pool all day. My mom had made one of my favorite dinners - homemade mac and cheese. She always makes the creamiest, most delicious mac and cheese. I probably had three huge platefuls!

After dinner, Sarah, Emily and I hung out in my room for a while listening to music and telling jokes. We played some board games too like Candy Land and Chutes and Ladders. My little brother Kyle joined us for a game of Hungry Hungry Hippos before their parents came to pick them up around 8:30pm. I spent the rest of Saturday night watching TV and playing on my Nintendo Switch. I stayed up a little later than usual since it was the weekend. Finally around 11pm I got ready for bed and fell asleep pretty quickly.

On Sunday morning, I slept in until around 10am. For breakfast, we had donuts that my dad picked up from the local bakery. After eating, my family spent a couple hours outside working in our yard and garden. We pulled weeds, planted some new flowers, and gave the vegetable garden a fresh layer of mulch.

Once we were done gardening, I met up with my friend Mason at the basketball court in the park near my house. We

played basketball for a while, trying out different trick shots and seeing who could make the most baskets from the 3-point line. Around 2pm, Mason's dad picked him up and I went home for lunch. We had leftover mac and cheese from the night before - I still couldn't get enough of it! After lunch, I spent the

afternoon reading in the backyard. I was working on finishing my summer reading book for school.

For dinner, we had roasted chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans. My grandparents came over to join us. It was really nice to see them and catch up over the delicious meal my mom prepared.

After dinner, my dad suggested we all go for a walk around the neighborhood. We hadn't had a family walk in a while, so that sounded like a fun idea. We walked for about an hour, looking at all the different houses and gardens. My brother and I had a competition to see who could spot the most bunnies or squirrels.

When we got back home around 8pm, we all watched a movie together as a family. My dad let me pick since I had been so well-behaved all weekend. I chose one of my favorite funny movies and we laughed throughout the whole thing.

Once the movie ended around 10pm, it was time to get ready for bed and a new school week. I took a shower, put on my pajamas, and read for a little while before falling into a deep sleep, feeling happy after such an awesome weekend!
