Enable students to learn to talk about daily routines. Emotion & attitude goals:

To form a good habit of using time. One “today” works better than two “tomorrows” Strategy goals:

1. Act out conversation in pairs.

2. Encourage students to think over during their study. Culture awareness goals:

1. Girls often end their letters to other girls with “Love,”….Boys do not do this when writing to other boys. Boys usually end their letters with a phrase such as “Best wishes.”

2. Let students know about day and night. Teaching important / difficult points:

The expressions of time and listening for the routines. Teaching methods: the investigative method Teaching aids: CAI

Teaching procedures and ways: Step 1. Warming up

Ss: Good morning, Mr Hu. T: Good morning, boys and girls,

Before the new class, motivate students to review the cardinal numbers they’ve learned before.

Step 2.Lead-in

The teacher shows a clock on the screen,. and asks: what is it in English? Ss: It’s a clock.

T: What can we know from it ? Ss: Time.

T: What time is it?

Ss: It’s three o’clock.(maybe)

T: Ok. Today we will learn Unit11 what time do you go to school? Step3. Presentation

A. Show the teaching aims on blackboard. (The teacher explains to Ss.)

1. The new words:

Go to school /get up / run / eat breakfast / take a shower

2.. Language Goals: Talk about routines and ask about times. A: What time do you usually get up, Rick? B: I usually get up at five o’clock .

C: What time does Rick usually get up? B: He usually gets up at five o’clock . B. Learn new words and phrases and the methods of describing time..

1.Using pictures to learn the target words.

2. After they finish learning the target words. I will ask them to open the books and turn to P65. I will teach 1a This activity introduces the key words.

After they finish, I will give them the right answers. 3.I show the students the methods of describing time. C: Practice.

T shows some times on the screen and asks Ss to answer.

1.T: What time is it?(what’s the time?) Ss: It’s ---.

2. Ss work in pairs.(Ss use their clock models.) D. Listening practice.

1. T explains the routines in the picture and asks the Ss what time is it? on each clock. 2. T plays the recording. Ss listen and finish part1b. E. Ask and answer.

1. T use pictures on the screen and asks Ss to answer the questions: What time do you get up/go to school/have breakfast? Ss answer freely. 2.Ss work in pairs. Some volunteers present their dialogues.

3.Then T use the same pictures asks Ss to answer the questions; What time does he get up/have breakfast/go to school? Ss answer freely.

4. Ss work in small groups of four students. Some volunteers present their dialogues. Step4.Exercises

Hand out paper to check what the Ss have mastered.

Step5. Summary .

1.Words: go to school, have(eat) breakfast, get up, run, take a shower, time, what time, usually 2.时间的表示

A.整点 o’clock e g. one o’clock B.不到半小时 past e g. ten past eight C.超过半小时 to e g. ten to eight

T: As we all know, time is very important and in English there is a famous saying “An hour in the morning is worth two in the evening.” So we should use our time well.

Step6. Homework:

1. Ask students to make up dialogues according to 1b and write them in exercise book..
