1SCOPE.Thisspecificationdescribesmaterialsthataresuitableforpassengerfloorapplicationsandfloormats.1.1Thetypereferstothewearperformanceofthecarpetandshallbeindicatedonthepartdrawing/SORandtheConstructionSheetinadditiontothespecificationnumber(i.e.,GM2715M,TypeI).

1.2Thematerialshallbeconstructedusingsyntheticfibers,dyedandfinishedwithanapprovedbackingtobecomeaccept-ableincolor,patternandphysicalpropertiesasoutlinedinthisspecification.2

3REQUIREMENTS.Unlessotherwisespecified,thematerialshallbetestedunderstandardconditions,21±2˚Cand50±5%RH.Conditionspecimensforaminimumof24hpriortotestingoruntilmoistureequilibriumisreached.Ifspecimensaretestedoutsideoftheconditionedenvironment,theyshallbetestedwithin10minutesofremoval.When3specimensaretobetested,theyshouldbecutacrossthesam-pleavoidinganycommonfibers.Specimensshouldnotbecutwithin50mmofanyedgeofthesample.Noindividualtestresultshallbelessthantheminimumorgreaterthanthemaxi-mumvalue.

3.1.3LabAccreditation(ISO/IEC25orGP-10).TestingistobeperformedbyanaccreditedlaboratorycertifiedbyGMorcertifiedbyanaccreditingagencyrecognizedbyGMtoISO/IEC25orGMGP-10.

5.8.1FiberLoss.SpecimenstestedforfiberlossshallnothaveaweightlossgivenaYvalueof10%forTypeIcarpetsand5.69%forTypesII,III,IV,andV.

5.8.2Wear.Specimenstestedforwearmustachievearatingofsatisfactory.TuftedCarpetsonly;thereshallbenobackingfabricvisible.CarpetsintendedtobeusedinFloorApplicationsmustmeettheTypeI,II,III,IV,orTypeVrequirement.CarpetintendedtobeusedinFloorMatApplicationsmustmeettheTypeII,III,IVorTypeVrequire-ment.Threespecimensaretobetested.

6.4DYESTABILITY(AATCC107).Theresultshallbe3orgreaterwhencomparedtotheAATCCChromaticTransferenceScaleaftertesting2h@50˚CusingStyle10clothwiththeedgescoldcutonly.

7INITIALSOURCEAPPROVAL.Noshipmentshallbemadebyanysupplieruntilrepresentativeinitialproductionsampleshavebeenapprovedbyengineeringasmeetingtherequirementsofthisspecification.

7.1CompletedcopiesoftheMaterialSafetyDataSheetmeetingGMinformationrequirementsmustbesubmittedwithanynewsubmissionsorwheneveracompositionchangehasoccurred.

8INSPECTIONANDREJECTION.Allshipmentsofmaterialorpartsundercontractorpurchaseordermanufac-turedtothisspecificationshallbeequivalentineveryrespecttotheinitialsamplesapprovedbyengineering.Thereshallbenochangesineitherformulationormanufacturingprocessespermittedwithoutpriornotificationandapprovalbyengineer-ing.Lackofnotificationbythesupplierconstitutesgroundsforrejectionofanyshipment.Whilesamplesmaybetakenfromincomingshipmentsandcheckedforconformancetothisspecification,thesuppliershallaccepttheresponsibilityforincomingshipmentsmeetingthisspecificationwithoutdepen-denceuponthepurchaser’sinspection.

9APPROVEDSOURCES.Engineeringqualificationofanapprovedsourceisrequiredforthisspecification.OnlysourceslistedintheGMCorporateMaterialsFileunderthisspecificationnumberhavebeenqualifiedbyengineeringasmeetingtherequirementsofthisspecification.Sourcesareavailablethroughtheon-lineMATSPCSystem.
