Sucker

First of all, I’d like to talk about the title of the article I’ve read with you. As you can see, the writer gives the article an interesting name——Sucker. Everyone knows that “sucker” means a part of an insect or of an animal's body that it uses to hold on to a surface. Don’t you think the title arouse your curiosity? Don’t you feel like making it clear? And how about listen to my opinions on it?

Before I clarify my individual understanding, it may be necessary to introduce the story to you first. The author tells a story between his cousin and him. The author’s cousin is four years younger than him and he calls him “sucker” because he used to always remember and believe every word the author says. At the beginning of the story, Sucker shows a sincere worship to the author and relies much on him though the author always ignores him and even shouts at him. Sometimes the author plays tricks on Sucker but he never gets annoyed and still appreciates him the same as before. Of course, occasionally they get along with each other well and the author treats him better than his kid sisters. Life is always dramatic. After the author is refused by the girl he loves he is so fretful that he breaks up with Sucker. Worst of all, when he said that he didn’t like Sucker his voice was slow and like he was very calm, which truly hurt Sucker. And from then on, they are never close any more and Sucker becomes more and more indifferent in spite of the author’s regret.

To be honest, I can’t agree more with what the author has said in the story “If a person admires you a lot you despite him and don’t care ——and it’s the

person who doesn’t notice you that you are apt to admire.” Seen from this point I think the author is the fool but not Sucker. He can’t cherish Sucker’s sincerity. Moreover regret makes no sense after he has hurt Sucker’s heart. So it’s not difficult to come to the theme of the story that we shouldn’t hurt people around us and we ought to treasure our dear friends and relations! At the end I’d like to propose you all to pay attention to your attitude towards people around you, it’sthe point!
